We’re hiring two interns for winter/spring 2018.
*Note: we have filled these positions. We will post our summer internship in April.*
Catapult is seeking two paid interns to provide support to our teams in our New York City office. We’re looking for one full-time editorial and marketing intern and one part-time classes and publishing intern.
Duties for each intern will vary widely day-to-day, but we rely on our interns for time-sensitive, essential work. We have hired five previous interns to in-house staff positions and proudly strive to help all of our exemplary interns with their job searches upon completing the internship with us.
Typical duties for both Catapult interns will include packing and mailing books and other promotional materials, research, copy editing, and various administrative tasks across the company’s editorial, publicity, marketing, classes, production, and publishing departments. Interns will work closely with a variety of talented, motivated, and creative people to gain hands-on experience at one of the largest independent publishers today.
The ideal candidate will be exceptionally detail-oriented, organized, open to constructive feedback, efficient, a clear communicator, interested in learning the business of publishing, self-managed, able to work well in a fast-paced environment, passionate about the literary world, knowledgeable about media outlets (diverse and niche interest knowledge is a plus), and comfortable learning new software and systems. Interns must be familiar with Google Drive, and InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere experience is a major plus.
We’re looking for one full-time intern (40 hours/week) and one part-time intern (20 hours/week). The four-to-six month term can begin as early as December 2017 and last through May 2018, allowing the intern to experience an entire season of the publishing calendar. Our interns earn $13/hour. People of color, LGBTQIA people, and disabled people are especially encouraged to apply.
Send cover letter and resume to Colin Drohan at colin.drohan@catapult.co by 10 a.m. ET on Monday, November 20th. Please include “Winter/Spring 2018 Internship” in your subject line.
Applicants should include in their cover letter all scheduling and accessibility requirements and clearly state if they would like to be considered for the full-time or part-time internship. We will invite a select number of internship candidates to take a short marketing test (which will also give you a good sense of the kind of work you’ll be doing with us) and a copy editing and proofreading test.
