Description: Fiction writers are able to pursue their craft with access to the Center for Fiction’s Writing Studio, work with an editor on a manuscript, and receive publication in an anthology. There will be opportunities for mentorship, dinner with agents, readings, and much more.
Eligibility: Applicants must be based in New York City and an early-career fiction writer
Description: Fellows receive one-on-one mentorship from NBCC board members, craft and professional lectures will be given over zoom.
Eligibility: Applicants must be 21 or older. All experience levels are welcome. Applicants do not need to be US permanent residents and/or citizens to apply.
Location: You can be based anywhere
Funding: None but fellows are offered a dues-free NBCC membership, admission to NBCC events, and annual reception for one year
Dates: Session one is September 23 to October 6, session two is from October 7 to October 20, session three is October 21 to November 3, and session four is November 4 to November 17, 2022
Description: There are no formal work requirements for this residency. Writers, journalists, and other creatives will pursue their work in their own room within a house that “sits above a vibrant wetland.” There will be opportunities to engage with the Mesa Refuge community—and San Francisco is just an hour away.
Eligibility: Priority is given to writers focusing on nature, the human economy, and social equity. They accept both emerging and established writers. They are also open to other creatives, such as filmmakers and audio journalists.
Location: Point Reyes Station, CA
Funding: There is no daily residency fee. They also cover “some meals and supplies.” There is a $50 non-refundable application fee and residents must cover travel to the residency.
Dates: Residencies range from two weeks to three months. You can request the length and dates of stay in your application.
Description: This residency is meant to give artists space and time to experiment and develop their work. Residents will have the opportunity to display work in A.I.R.’s storefront space and visit cultural centers, galleries, performance venues, and regional arts facilities.
Eligibility: There are no educational requirements and they welcome emerging and established artists. Applicants must be at least twenty-one years old. They are seeking writers, visual artists, composers/musicians, choreographers, and architects with “a clear objective for the time of their residency.”
Location: Paducah, KY
Funding: This residency is not funded. The residency fee is $1000 per month or $700 for two weeks, which includes utilities. There is a $25 application fee. Residents are also responsible for transportation, materials, and food.
